Our client, a leader in Health Care Facilities provision, has multiple openings for Care Support Assistants across various locations in British Columbia. These roles can be full-time, part-time, or contract.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Housekeeping Aide performs general housekeeping activities within established guidelines related to health and safety, infection control, quality management, and organizational standards. As a valued team member, the Housekeeping Aide demonstrates a commitment to resident safety by providing quality care in accordance with the organization’s vision and mission.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides all aspects of environmental cleaning in assigned work areas.
- Ensures daily neatness and cleanliness of residents’ rooms, offices, and common areas, including furniture, closets, windows, walls, floors, shower and tub rooms, washrooms, reception areas, and break rooms, following standardized procedures.
- Prepares rooms for new occupants to ensure they are tour-ready at all times.
- Maintains infection control by using specified cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing agents.
- Follows operational policies, quality improvement, safety, infection control protocols, and adheres to legislative and regulatory standards.
- Participates in multidisciplinary committees, team meetings, and mandatory in-service sessions.
- Supports quality initiatives by providing feedback and suggestions for improvement.
- Checks supplies and equipment before routines, reports shortages or concerns to the manager.
- Collects and disposes of garbage safely and hygienically.
- Stores supplies upon delivery.
- Performs routine, deep, terminal, and discharge cleaning, floor maintenance, and waste management as scheduled.
- Participates in orientation and performance management processes.
- Completes monthly audits and maintains accountability.
- Interprets MOHLTC legislation, regulations, and processes.
- Contributes to compliance processes and systems.
- Respects Residents’ Bill of Rights and maintains privacy during duties.
- Works according to Health and Safety Policies and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Performs other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current WHMIS Certificate.
- Previous housekeeping experience required.
- Experience in institutional cleaning or laundry in long-term care is desirable.
- Knowledge of infection control, cleaning practices, and housekeeping equipment.
- Ability to read, write, and follow written instructions in English.
- Effective communication skills with residents and team members.
- Strong customer service skills.
EDUCATION:
High School diploma or equivalent.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Interaction with residents from diverse backgrounds.
- Combination of natural and fluorescent lighting.
- Exposure to external elements and variable temperatures.
- Lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Participation in therapeutic programs such as pet therapy, spiritual events, and musical therapy.
