Job summary

HealthOPM is seeking a reliable and dedicated Housekeeper to support a retirement home in Goderich, Ontario. This casual role involves maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors, with shifts based on staffing needs.

Key duties include cleaning resident rooms, common areas, bathrooms, and dining spaces; following infection-control procedures; and collaborating with the facility team while respecting residents' privacy and dignity.

Qualifications

• Previous housekeeping, cleaning, hospitality, healthcare, or retirement-home experience is an asset.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and professional.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to interact respectfully with seniors and residents.
• Physically capable of performing housekeeping duties, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
• Willingness to follow facility policies and infection-control procedures.
• Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) - required or willing to obtain one.
• Reliable transportation to the Goderich facility is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Perform general housekeeping and cleaning duties throughout the retirement home.
• Clean and sanitize resident rooms, common areas, bathrooms, dining areas, and other designated spaces.
• Perform dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping.
• Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces and frequently used areas.
• Follow proper infection prevention and cleaning procedures.
• Safely use cleaning products, supplies, and equipment.
• Maintain cleaning supplies and report shortages or equipment issues.
• Follow all facility health, safety, and sanitation policies.
• Respect residents' privacy, dignity, and personal belongings while performing housekeeping duties.
• Report safety hazards, maintenance concerns, or other issues to the appropriate staff.
• Work collaboratively with the facility team to maintain a clean and safe environment.
