Essential Responsibilities:
- Perform daily and discharge cleaning, including bed-making, wall spotting, toilet cleaning, and high/low dusting.
- Follow 8-step cleaning procedures and maintain professional, safe work practices.
- Use caution signs and cones to ensure safety.
- Complete unfinished tasks from previous shifts and report maintenance issues.
- Clean up organic body waste (blood, body fluids, feces, etc.) as instructed.
- Hang cubicle curtains, shower curtains, and window coverings.
- Sanitize patient equipment such as I.V. poles and pumps after discharge.
- Learn and demonstrate new healthcare cleaning procedures as needed.
Education

- Must have ability to understand and converse in English at a level which allows safe, efficient, performance of the job.
- Staff adheres to all I C.A.R.E. Standards.
- Requires manual dexterity and ability to stand for long periods.
- Performs all Environmental Services related tasks and demonstrates ability to follow department guidelines related to the work.
- Performs basic and heavier cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules and using prescribed methods.
- Demonstrates service orientation to fellow employees, staff, and patients.
- Cleans patient equipment as requested, including beds and furnishings.
- Assists in manpower support for office and/or related moves, conference setups, and other duties as required.
- Uses proper chemicals for tasks.
- Performs cleaning of emergency spills when observed or upon request.
- Assists nursing in making up extra beds and other duties during community disasters.
