Job summary

The Salvation Army Canada and Bermuda Territory is seeking a casual relief Housekeeper for the Jackson’s Point Conference Centre. You will clean rooms and public spaces, replenish supplies, and maintain sanitation and safety in line with WHMIS and OH&S guidelines.

This role is casual with no guaranteed hours; shifts may include days, evenings and weekends. You will work under supervision to ensure guest-ready spaces and contribute to a positive guest experience.

Qualifications

  • Completion of Secondary School.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of prior related experience as a cleaner or housekeeper.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards.
  • Customer-oriented and friendly; ability to work quickly without compromising quality.
  • Lead by example with strong work ethic and flexibility.
  • Good listening skills and effective oral/written communication.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, integrity and adaptability.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive cleaning and sanitization of rooms, bathrooms, and public areas.
  • Inspect spaces to meet established quality and safety standards.
  • Clean and disinfect fixtures, appliances, and high-touch surfaces.
  • Manage waste removal and recycling; prepare materials for pickup.
  • Monitor inventory and distribute cleaning supplies and linens.
  • Maintain housekeeping logs; report damages or repairs promptly.
  • Coordinate daily housekeeping schedules under supervision.
  • Respond to requests with professionalism and customer care.
  • Support dishwashing, dining area reset, and laundry tasks as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with WHMIS and OH&S regulations; report hazards.

Job Description:
Position Purpose

The Houskeeper is primarily responsible for taking care of cleaning tasks, replenishing supplies and cleaning and storing housekeeping equipment for The Salvation Army Jackson’s Point Conference Centre in compliance with health and safety requirements. They ensure tidy and sanitary amenities to guests. The incumbent is a professional with integrity and attention to detail who will provide the highest level of guest satisfaction in cleanliness and service.

Key Accountabilities
  • Perform comprehensive cleaning and sanitization of rooms, bathrooms, and public areas to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
  • Inspect and maintain all spaces to ensure they meet established quality and safety standards
  • Clean and disinfect fixtures, appliances, and high-touch surfaces in accordance with health and public safety guidelines
  • Manage waste removal by collecting debris, emptying garbage and recycling, and preparing materials for scheduled pick-up
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels of cleaning supplies, linens, and consumables; reorder and distribute as needed
  • Maintain accurate housekeeping and maintenance logs, reporting damages, deficiencies, and repair needs promptly
  • Coordinate daily housekeeping schedules and activities under supervisor direction to ensure efficient operations
  • Respond to requests and resolve routine concerns with professionalism, patience, and strong customer service
  • Support cross-functional operations, including dishwashing, dining area reset, and laundry tasks to ensure a clean and guest-ready environment
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, WHMIS, and OH&S regulations, including reporting hazards, following emergency procedures, and maintaining safety documentation
Education and experience Qualifications:
  • Completion of Secondary School.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of prior related experience as a cleaner or housekeeper in a professional cleaning role.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards.
  • Customer-oriented and friendly; the ability to work quickly without compromising quality.
  • Lead by example, by demonstrating a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn and be flexible.
  • Exhibit good listening skills, have strong oral/written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and adaptability.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
Working Conditions:
  • This is a casual/relief position.
  • There are no standard weekly hours of work and no guaranteed hours. Work will be offered on an as needed basis; shifts may include days, afternoons, evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to lift/move on a regular basis up to 35 pounds (15.8757 kgs.)
Compensation:

The target hiring range for this position is $17.60 to $19.85 with a maximum of $23.82.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
