Job summary

Southwest Properties in Halifax seeks a dedicated Housekeeper to maintain pristine common areas and suites across buildings. You will perform a range of cleaning tasks to ensure welcoming, safe living spaces for residents and staff.

Hours are 8 per day, 5 days a week, daytime shifts with some weekends and holidays. You should be comfortable standing for long periods and handling occasional heavy lifting.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years cleaning experience preferred
• Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills
• Ability to perform with tact and professionalism in a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail and reliability

Responsibilities

• Clean suites, hallways, lobbies, restrooms, corridors, elevators, and stairways.
• Vacuum, shampoo carpets, and clean upholstery.
• Empty trash and transport to disposal areas.
• Sweep, mop, and polish floors.
• Dust and polish furniture and fixtures; clean windows.
• Replace light bulbs in common areas.
• Wash walls and woodwork; assist with seasonal landscaping tasks.
• Ensure pool, gym, and entertainment areas are clean and safe.
• Lease-ready readiness for vacant suites; report maintenance needs.
• Escort contractors and maintain housekeeping equipment and supplies.

What Your Day Will Look Like

As a Housekeeper, you will maintain high standards of presentation and cleanliness for the property, including all common areas.

Hours of Work: 8 hours per day, 5 days a week. Daytime only. Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including days, weekends, and holidays.

Work Location: Any Southwest Properties building.

What You’ll be Responsible For

• Clean suites, hallways, lobbies, restrooms, corridors, elevators, and stairways; remove all stains and debris.
• Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and/or draperies, using vacuum cleaners and/or shampooers.
• Empty wastebaskets and transport other trash & waste to disposal areas.
• Sweep and scrub, using brooms, mops, and/or powdered scrubbing and waxing machines.
• Dust and polish furniture and equipment.
• Polish silver accessories and metalwork such as fixtures and fittings.
• Replace light bulbs in common areas.
• Sort clothing and other articles, load washing machines and iron and fold dried items.
• Wash windows, walls, ceilings, and woodwork, waxing & polishing as necessary.
• Remove debris from parking lots and around complex.
• Ensure fitness & entertainment areas are cleaned on a regular basis; wipe down gym equipment.
• Ensure all pool and hot tub areas are cleaned.
• Ensure vacant suites are ready for showings and lease ready.
• Perform rounds of complex on a regular basis to ensure cleanliness of entire complex; elevate issues where appropriate.
  • Seasonally provide light landscaping i.e. raking, garbage removal, and water plant boxes.
  • Ensure barbecue and terrace area (including furniture) is cleaned on a regular basis.
• Observe precautions required to protect residents and report damage, theft, and found articles to the Assistant Property Manager.
• Request service repairs as needed.
• Ensure the highest level of safety standards are adhered to while performing all duties.
• Keep cleaning supply cart well stocked and tidy.
• Professional liaise with all residents and employees.
• Escort contractors around building when Concierge is not available.
• Maintain all housekeeping equipment and ensure all required tools and equipment are in good working order.

As a Housekeeper, you will stand and walk for long periods of time, and may encounter occasional heavy lifting. Weather (seasonal duties) is a factor in the completion of your duties.
