Job Type: Full-Time

Salary Range: $69,071 to $86,339 / year

The Position:

This role is responsible for the financial, operational, customer, and human resources objectives of the Hotel and Convention departments. It will also support the Vice President of Operations, BC East, in developing and executing strategic, operational, and policy initiatives to enhance the financial contribution and effectiveness of Hotel and Convention operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide strategic leadership in hotel operations, assist with budget presentation, capital plan, and development projects.
  2. Oversee the Hotel Rooms division and Convention Services department.
  3. Support large convention bookings during high-volume banquet seasons and other high-profile events.
  4. Ensure accuracy in contracts, proposals, and correspondence, focusing on menu details, pricing, organization, setup, and billing.
  5. Coordinate credit arrangements for catering customers with the accounting department.
  6. Assist in developing convention menus and pricing.
  7. Lead and support Hotel and Convention staff management and development.
  8. Manage performance through coaching, training, and discipline.
  9. Oversee purchasing of all Hotel and Convention supplies and equipment.
  10. Develop systems to improve cost efficiency, especially labor.
  11. Collaborate with department managers, including casino operations, for cross-marketing and promotions.
  12. Manage recruitment, training, and staff development to meet strategic and operational goals.
  13. Maintain knowledge of company policies and procedures.
  14. Provide creative solutions for customer needs, including up-selling and menu modifications.
  15. Ensure compliance with food handling, health, safety, and provincial regulations.
  16. Foster teamwork, positive employee relations, and open communication.
  17. Perform additional responsibilities as needed.

What You Bring:

  • Minimum 5 years of hospitality management experience.
  • Minimum 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Post-secondary education in hospitality management or related field.
  • Ability to implement operational changes.
  • Proven leadership and teamwork skills.
  • Business acumen with costing and pricing expertise.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends.
  • Strong project management and customer service skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, reliable, punctual, and efficient with multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, email, internet, and presentation software.
