Job summary

MLSE Food & Beverage is seeking a Host at Scotia club to welcome guests, manage reservations, and help maintain a smooth dining flow. You will greet guests, verify seating, and coordinate with servers to deliver a standout guest experience.

Ideal candidates hold Smart Serve certification, have prior high-volume restaurant experience, and are comfortable with SevenRooms. Flexibility for days, evenings, weekends, and holidays is required to support busy events.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a high-volume restaurant or club environment is preferred.
  • Proven ability to greet guests warmly and manage seating flow under pressure.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for coordinating with staff.

Responsibilities

  • Warmly greet and welcome guests upon arrival and manage a professional first impression.
  • Ensure menus and guest materials are prepared and ready before each shift.
  • Manage in-person reservations using SevenRooms and coordinate seating based on availability.
  • Collaborate with the Manager to organize seating plans to maximize dining room capacity.
  • Seat guests efficiently while balancing service flow and guest satisfaction.
  • Communicate special requests or dietary needs to ensure seamless service.
  • Oversee guest waitlists and provide accurate wait time estimates.
  • Assist with table resetting and other duties during peak times.
  • Support Bussers, Servers, Bartenders, and Managers to ensure smooth operations.
  • Handle guest feedback courteously and escalate issues when needed.
  • Follow service standards and health and safety guidelines at all times.

Job Description

As a key member of MLSE Food & Beverage Team at Scotia club, the Host will play a vital role in ensuring our guests feel welcome and valued from the moment they arrive. This role involves managing reservations, seating guests, and maintaining the flow of the dining area to deliver an exceptional guest experience. The Host will also assist with operational tasks to support overall service excellence and smooth restaurant operations.

Responsibilities
  • Warmly greet and welcome guests upon arrival, creating a professional and friendly first impression.
  • Ensure menus, wine lists, and other guest materials are clean, tidy, and ready for service before each shift.
  • Manage and take accurate in-person reservations through Sevenrooms, our reservation system.
  • Work collaboratively with the Manager to prepare and organize seating plans based on guest preferences and availability.
  • Seat guests efficiently and according to the seating plan, maximizing the dining room’s capacity while balancing service flow.
  • Communicate special requests, dietary preferences, or specific seating needs to ensure seamless coordination and guest satisfaction.
  • Oversee guest waitlists, providing accurate wait time estimates and keeping guests informed.
  • Assist with table resetting, preparation, and other duties as required to support service continuity during peak times.
  • Provide support to Bussers, Servers, Bartenders, and Managers as needed to ensure smooth operations.
  • Handle guest feedback or concerns courteously and elevate issues to the Manager when necessary.
  • Follow service standards and policies, ensuring a high-quality guest experience at all times.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety guidelines, including the Occupational Health & Safety Act, to maintain a safe and clean working environment.
Qualifications
  • Smart Serve Certification is required.
  • Previous experience in a high-volume restaurant or club environment is preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including days, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Proficiency with reservation systems like SevenRooms or similar platforms is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Able to work well under pressure and maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
