Summary/Objective

Provide Park Lawn families and their guests with exceptional, professional, and courteous service during all funeral visitations and services, meetings and events throughout our facility(s).

Essential Functions

  • Greets and directs families and visitors in attendance for funeral visitations and/or funeral services while at the receiving area of the funeral home, in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Performs administrative duties as directed, back up to Receptionist position during breaks or for absences due to scheduled days off, vacation, illness, etc.; assist with overflow of administrative work as directed.
  • Guides families to arrangement rooms and provide refreshments as required. Ensure arrangements rooms are checked for cleanliness and re-organized after each family appointment, as required.
  • Assists Funeral Home Staff in the preparation of visitations, masses, funerals, and events. This includes and is not limited to the set up and reset of visitation room with possible arrangement of furniture; set up, removal and transfer of floral tributes, ensure prayer cards are printed and readily available.
  • Assists staff to ensure that the Funeral Home remains sanitized, clean, and presentable at all times. Conduct general light housekeeping duties for all common areas including the cleanliness of washrooms and ensure they have all required supplies, dusting, arrangement rooms, visitation rooms, overall funeral home facilities, etc.
  • Ensures the funeral home coffee lounge is properly stocked and all equipment, furniture cleaned before and after each use, each scheduled visitation/mass or event and/or on a daily basis, as required.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently. Bilingual is a plus.
  • High degree of overall computer proficiency.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Effective and professional communication skills, with an emphasis on verbal skills and the ability to resolve and respond to issues in a professional manner.

  • Outdoor duties may require exposure to natural elements such as inclement weather, extreme temperatures, uneven ground, dust, gas, and/or fumes.
  • Equipment used to perform the essential function of this position includes, but is not limited to; computer, fax, copier, multi-line phone system, AV system, body lift, casket handling/transport devices, personal or company owned vehicle.
  • Employees in this role must have sufficient strength and manual dexterity and must be willing to work safely and comply with the Company’s safety procedures, including wearing any personal protective equipment that may be required.
  • Employees in this role are regularly required to climb, sit, stand, bend, kneel, and frequently lift up to 75 pounds, and may be required to lift up to 100 pounds.
  • This position may also require power reaching, pushing, and pulling.
  • Employees in this role must be able to perform job duties when awakened from a sound sleep.
  • This position may also be exposed to chemicals and/ or blood borne pathogens. Exposure risk is considered: Moderate
  • Overtime is sometimes necessary or required.
