Position Summary
The Hospitality Services Manager leads the Hospitality team in food, housekeeping, resident laundry, and janitorial services and may on occasion be required to perform cooking functions. He/she performs and/or appropriately delegates (but is always involved) in tasks such as hiring, training, coaching and administrative duties for assigned employees. He/she maintains all appropriate records and ensures all audit compliance for areas of responsibility.
Within the scope of this position, the Hospitality Services Manager takes on a key role to continually provide an environment promoting a culture of resident safety and freedom from harm and injury.

Core Outcomes
Hospitality Operational Leadership
- Is responsible for the full operation of foodservices, housekeeping, and resident laundry and janitorial services in a Supportive Living and/or Long-Term care environment.
- Promotes Food and Housekeeping Services and any other revenue generating activities to Independent Suites.
- Liaises between direct reports and residents/residents’ families.
- Is responsible for all aspects of menu and nourishment cycle development and evaluation in conjunction and collaboration with Regional Director, Executive Director, Dietary Manager and Director of Operations.
- Organizes/delegates preparation and delivery of catered functions.
- Prepares annual budget with ongoing review, monitoring and approval of all revenues and expenses.
- Participates in contract negotiations as applicable and appropriate for this role.
- Participates in the development and presentation of annual business reviews.
- Prepares monthly report for Regional Director’s review.
- Prepares quarterly forecasting and outcomes reports as requested and directed.
- Performs/delegates quarterly Food Safe Audit.
- Performs/delegates bi-annual Resident Satisfaction Survey.
- Performs/delegates monthly Housekeeping Audits.
- Participates in Managers’ meetings.
- Participates in Resident Association meetings.
- Participates/delegates attendance in all resident committees including OH&S, Social Club, Total Quality Management, Business Planning, Capital Equipment requirements and recommendations.
- Prepares for and participates in routine and ad-hoc audits (e.g. PIR audits, Accommodation Standards, Accreditation, and Alberta Facility reviews, etc.)
- Attends Family Information sessions.
- Attends AgeCare meetings and functions as requested.
- Performs/delegates all work in accordance with AgeCare policies and procedures, including but not limited to, quality assurance items and all Health & Safety initiatives.
- Performs all other related duties as required.
Employee Leadership
- Organizes/delegates all Human Resources functions, including recruiting, training, coaching, scheduling, payroll, and employee performance management in collaboration with AgeCare HR Advisor(s) and AgeCare Performance Management Framework, policies, and practices.
- Implements/delegates, monitors, and reports of all impact initiatives.
- Organizes/delegates regular staff meetings.
- Displays polite, quality service attitude towards residents and co-workers.
- Maintains friendly, efficient, and responsive attitude toward others while performing job duties.
- Investigates resident, family, and employee concerns and complaints within AgeCare protocol (involving HR Advisor as appropriate) with focus on follow up and appropriate resolution.
- Investigates/delegates all employee injuries and near misses (involving HR Advisor as appropriate) with focus on recommendations for prevention of future incidents.
- Interacts with co-workers in a positive, team atmosphere to help find a better way to perform the job.
- Attends all department/hospitality in-service orientation and other meetings and training as required.
Resident Safety
- Performs all work in accordance with facility, AgeCare and regulatory safety procedures and requirements including OSM, WHMIS, and OH&S.
- Performs all duties in a manner in which resident safety is the focus.
- Reports any unsafe activities that may cause harm or injury to a resident.
- Educates other co-workers / colleagues on the proper safety techniques when there is a possibility of endangering a resident.
- Observes and corrects any unsafe behavior demonstrated by residents.
Qualifications
Education / Designation Requirements
- Secondary Education preferably in related industry or business setting.
- Secondary Education specialized in Management, Hotel/Restaurant or Dietetic specialty an asset.
- Red Seal Preferred.
- Advanced Food Safety Certification.
- Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and/or budget-responsibility.
- Must successfully complete the required training program within the defined probationary period.
- First Aid Certification an asset (will be required to obtain / maintain).
- Strong basic to intermediate Microsoft Office skills required.
- Technical ability to effectively operate and basic-troubleshoot computers, copiers, telephone, fax, etc.
- Must be fluent in English, both orally and in writing.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of management / leadership experience.
- 5-years directly related experience may be considered in lieu of education requirements.

Salary Range: $65,000.00 - $72,500.00 per year Salary placement based on qualifications and experience.
