Job description

THIS IS A CONTRACT POSITION

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the preparation, sale, and exceptional service of food and beverage (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks) and other retail products available to customers at the Teletheatre.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Provide prompt, friendly, and courteous service to customers at all times.
  2. Provide full service to customers with all food, beverage, and retail purchases.
  3. Assemble, portion, heat, cook, and bake food items as per established specifications.
  4. Prepare, dispense, and serve alcoholic beverages including beer, wine, spirits following recipes, standards, and Smart Serve guidelines.
  5. Prepare and serve hot and cold non-alcoholic beverages as per specifications.
  6. Accurately process all customer retail purchases and payouts through OLG lottery terminal and POS systems.
  7. Address all customer product and service needs, requests, and concerns promptly.
  8. Pick up, count, and verify floats daily.
  9. Collect and remit daily cash receipts with supporting paperwork.
  10. Clean and sanitize work areas and equipment.
  11. Complete and submit opening/closing inventory counts and documentation including food, beverage, race programs, and lottery tickets.
  12. Perform daily inventory of retail products.
  13. Monitor product inventories and report deficiencies.
  14. Maintain and replenish supplies in service areas.
  15. Report supply or equipment deficiencies to the MOD.
  16. Assist in merchandising of products/services.
  17. Train and assist new personnel in procedures and safety.
  18. Handle customer complaints beyond scope of position to the Manager on Duty (MOD).
  19. Ensure adherence to all applicable government regulations and policies of Woodbine Entertainment Group.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of food and beverage service techniques and practices.
  • Knowledge of Safe Food Handling and sanitation guidelines.
  • Knowledge of POS systems.
Skills
  • High-quality service skills, exceeding customer expectations.
  • Ability to multitask effectively.
  • Effective communication in English (oral and written).
  • Strong interpersonal skills—friendly, professional, courteous.
  • Proficiency in tendering procedures and cash handling.
  • Ability to perform physical inventories accurately.
  • Mathematical proficiency.
Education and Experience
  • Minimum two years of related experience in retail, hospitality, or service industries.
  • Smart Serve Certified.
  • Secondary School Diploma is an asset.
Working Conditions
  • Flexibility for weekend/evening work.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Work in a noisy environment.

This position is based in Greenwood Teletheatre with hours varying including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, holidays, and major race days and events.
