Position Summary
Within the context of a patient and family-centered model of care, and in accordance with the Mission, Vision, Values and strategic directions of Providence Health Care (“Providence”), the Division of Infectious Diseases (Department of Medicine) is seeking hospitalists at St. Paul’s Hospital (Providence) for the Urban Health Infection Unit (UHIU), located on ward 8A.
Job Summary
The UHIU provides care for a broad range of infectious diseases, including patients with HIV/AIDS, and substance use disorders (e.g., pneumonia, vertebral osteomyelitis, endocarditis). UHIU is a 24-bed ward with a multidisciplinary care team. There is flexibility for both part-time or more full-time employment. Shifts are days (8:00 am to 5:00 pm; or 9:00 am to 6:00 pm), 7 days/week. Clinical support is available from the other hospitalist and the infectious diseases physician assigned to the unit on any given day. The unit is staffed with a multidisciplinary care team which is well connected to a wide range of community services and outpatient clinic facilities. SPH is an academic centre providing the staff opportunity to interact with trainees rotating through the unit and to take part in various educational sessions.
Qualifications
Eligible candidates must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC), have Family Medicine (CCFP) certification (or equivalent), or American Board of Internal Medicine certification (3-year training) and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certification.
