Job summary
Guelph General Hospital is seeking a Power Plant Engineer to oversee inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of the hospital's main infrastructure systems. This role ensures compliance with codes, supports other trades, and upholds the hospital's mission to provide exemplary care.
The position emphasizes experience with boilers, chillers, water systems, and building automation, with weekend/on-call rotation and strong teamwork within the Facilities Department.
Qualifications
- Current 4th Class Stationary Engineer Certification or 2–3 years recent experience in a power plant.
- Experience in health care buildings and power plant operations.
- Knowledge of building automation systems is an asset.
- Ability to read blueprints and interpret mechanical drawings.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair the facility’s main infrastructure systems (boilers, chillers, water systems, BAS).
- Assist other skilled trades and support emergency repairs as needed.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
- Read blueprints and operate/maintain hospital plant equipment.
- Respond to on-call rotations and weekend availability.
