A veterinary hospital in British Columbia is seeking a dynamic Assistant to join their Small Animal Hospital team. This part-time role (18 hours/week) involves maintaining cleanliness, assisting with in-patient care, and supporting veterinary procedures. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, possesses effective animal handling skills, and has a qualification in Animal Care. We are looking for a dynamic and hard-working assistant to join our team at the Small Animal Hospital.
This part time role (18 hours per week, Monday-Friday) offers the opportunity to work within a busy hospital setting. We are open to discussing how these hours will work for the successful candidate and the hospital.
You will primarily support the consulting rooms within the Small Animal Hospital. Working to ensure they are maintained to a high level of cleanliness and infection control, and to ensure that stock levels are well- managed for the clinical demand. This role will also work to support other areas of the hospital as required.
This role gives the successful candidate an opportunity to gain an insight into the hospital whilst having defined responsibilities unique to this role.

In this role you may be involved with the teaching of Veterinary and Veterinary Nursing undergraduates on clinical rotations.

To assist the veterinary and support staff of the Small Animal Hospital in maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene throughout all clinical areas. To assist clinicians and nursing staff with the provision of in-patient care, throughout all stages of the patient’s treatment. To assist with the setting up and maintenance of rooms and equipment. There is also a requirement for a flexible working pattern.

Confidence and experience in effective handling and restraint of animals
Practical experience working in a veterinary or animal-based environment
Basic understanding of English language and mathematics
Animal Nursing Assistant qualification or certificate in Animal Care
