Schlegel Villages Inc. is seeking a Horticultural Therapist as an Independent Contractor for our Ridgeview Court location in Milton, ON.

The role focuses on planning and delivering gardening-based activities that enhance residents’ well-being, working with the Recreation Team to advance holistic health goals. Ideal candidates will have a degree in Horticulture Therapy (or equivalent), completed 480 internship hours, and eligibility for CHTA membership.

Qualifications

• Be enrolled in or completed a Degree in Horticulture Therapy or equivalent.
• Completed the required 480 hours of internship.
• Be an eligible member of the Canadian Horticulture Therapy Association.

• Display a caring and respectful attitude toward our residents, families, and team members.

Responsibilities

• Plan gardening-based activities for residents, on a per-session basis or integrated into a larger curriculum.
• Collaborate with the Recreation Team to support holistic health goals.
• Deliver hands-on experiences like planting seeds and caring for plants indoors and outdoors.
• Support residents to learn, grow, find life purpose and meaning.
• Foster strong relationships with residents, families and the Village team to deliver holistic care.
