POSITION SUMMARY
The Home Support Worker is responsible for the in-home care and support of the Elders, sick, and disabled persons of Westbank First Nation.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Prefer 2 – 3 years related home support experience within the past 5 years
- Experience working within indigenous communities and families is considered and asset
- An equivalent combination of education & experience may be considered

Home Support / Resident Care Attendant Certificate requiredRegistered with the BC Care Aid and Community Health Worker Registry requiredValid First Aid and Food Safe CertificationAcceptable Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector SearchValid Class 5 BC Driver’s License, acceptable driver’s abstract, and personal vehicle with adequate liability insuranceMaintains a high level of confidentiality and uses discretion on all matters relating to the affairs of the Westbank First Nation and Home Care.JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILTIES
Provides personal, non-nursing care to clients as directed in the clients’ individualized care planAssists clients with the preparation of meals, as required, and provides a safe, clean environment in the homeSupervises, monitors, and reminds clients of daily activities including taking medicationsObserves clients for general mental and physical conditions and reports any changes to the Community Home Care ManagerCompletes the appropriate records regarding activity while in the client’s homeProvides transportation for shopping or medical appointments as directedAttends regular staff, in-service, and development meetings as directedAssists with clerical duties, including maintenance of client charts, preparation of correspondence and documents, as requiredPerforms other duties as necessary in the performance of the position and as assigned by the Community Home Care ManagerPerforms all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Westbank First Nation policies, standards and procedures, and as directed by the Community Care NurseKNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
