Job summary

A regional health service provider is seeking a Home Support Worker for the River Heights Team in Winnipeg. Ideal candidates should have experience in housekeeping and a valid Manitoba Class 5 driver’s license. Responsibilities include assisting clients in their homes and providing various health care services. The position requires effective communication skills and the ability to work shifts, including weekends. Full-time hours available, with a start date of August 1, 2025.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist in various health care services within the community health team.
  • Travel between clients' homes as required.

Position Overview
Experience
  • Previous experience with housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Valid Manitoba Class 5 driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, and/or willingness to travel year- round.
  • Food Handler’s Certificate may be required.

  • Information and/or training will be provided for the following:
    • Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) and Principles of Routine Practices (Universal Precautions).
    • Regional and Program policies and procedures.
    • Roles and responsibilities of members of the healthcare team.
Physical Requirements
  • May encounter aggressive and/or agitated individuals.
  • May encounter exposure to disease, blood, body fluids, pest infestation, radiation, toxic materials, noise, allergens, residual smoke, pets, pet dander, etc.
  • Position involves extensive physical activities such as standing, transferring, and transporting patients and equipment handling between 10-20kg on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work shift work and weekends.
  • May be required to travel between client’s homes.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.

Please note that an employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that combine to equal more than 1.0 EFT. The WRHA legal entity includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Golden West Centennial Lodge, Grace Hospital, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Pan Am Clinic, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA corporate programs, and WRHA community health services.
