Job Brief
The successful applicants will join the growing Home Support Team who support individuals to live independently in the community.
The successful candidates will provide supports in the areas of home management, shopping, personal care and supporting health plans. They will work with the individuals to coordinate their own supports and will advocate on behalf of them with regard to their needs and priorities. They will also work collaboratively with the Home Support and Western Care Multidisciplinary Team to ensure best possible outcomes for the individuals.
Candidate Requirements
- An understanding and appreciation of equality and life quality for all people
- Understanding and experience of supporting people in the community is desirable
- Have excellent communication skills & clear understanding of delivering high quality services
- Experience of working with people in a caring role is desirable
- The ability to work on own initiative & build relationships
- Full driver's license and use of a car is necessary
- Self-motivated and able to manage their time effectively
- Applicants would benefit from being informed around HIQA home support regulations
Other duties involved (duties include but are not limited to the following):
- Contribute to and participate in the local service planning process and the creative development and ongoing changing needs of the service.
- Ensure a safe place of work, incorporating Western Care Association's Dignity at Work Policy and Health & Safety requirement.
- To promote safety in all environments, in line with the Association's practices.
- Use positive approaches to support people in line with Organisational practice.

No minimum qualifications required for Social Care Assistant positions
- All applicants will be subject to Irish Garda Vetting & Reference checks
- All applicants from Countries outside the E.U. will be required to provide relevant work authorization to take up employment in Republic of Ireland. This must be submitted along with Application
- All applicants will be required to access Overseas Police Clearance if theyhave lived outside of the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland more than 6 months since the age of 18 years

Salary Scale
Social Care Assistant Pay Scale (Scale Range €30,288 - €42,034 per annum)
- this is based on full-time working hours i.e.39 hours per week
