Job summary

Cachet Homes is seeking a detail-oriented Home Service Technician to handle deficiency repairs during the statutory warranty period in our Southern Ontario communities. Reporting to the Home Service Manager, you will work with the Home Service Team to deliver high-quality repairs and excellent customer care across multiple sites.

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of successful experience as a general handyman or service technician in residential construction or a related field (low-rise construction preferred).
  • Computer proficiency with experience using electronic tablets in the field preferred.
  • Prior experience working with NewStar BuilderGo is an asset.

  • Work collaboratively with the Home Service Team to ensure deficiency repair work is completed promptly and efficiently in accordance with TARION standards.
  • Review, assess, and organize all assigned work related to warranty deficiency work orders.
  • Complete repairs to the highest standards in a quality workmanship manner.
  • Interact courteously with Homeowners while maintaining productivity.
  • Develop knowledge of TARION guidelines to determine warranted items.

Your Role


This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented, customer-centric team player to use their interpersonal skills and residential construction experience to enhance the Homeowner Experience at Cachet Homes. Reporting to the Home Service Manager, the Home Service Technician is responsible for the day-to-day completion of deficiency repair work during the statutory warranty period for the homes we build in our communities.


We are looking for someone who is personable, organized, and highly skilled in a variety of construction and repair techniques to excel in a fast-paced, innovative, service-focused environment and leverage the pride they take in their handiwork to support the delivery of industry-leading customer care at Cachet Homes.


Responsibilities



  • Work collaboratively with the Home Service Team to ensure deficiency repair work is being completed promptly and efficiently in accordance with TARION Warranty Corporation standards.

  • Review, assess, and organize all assigned work related to warranty deficiency work orders.

  • Complete repairs to the highest standards in a quality workmanship manner.

  • Interact courteously with all Homeowners while maintaining productivity.

  • Develop and maintain a superior understanding of the TARION Construction Performance Guidelines (CPG) to determine warranted or non-warranted items.

  • Review deficiency lists with Homeowners and communicate repair methods, assessments, and timing effectively.

  • Complete work orders in timely fashion while maintaining cleanliness and a premium level of finishing.

  • Work closely with the Home Service Coordinator to identify scope of work challenges, repetitive concerns and provide updates daily.

  • Work collaboratively with contractors and sub-contractors.

  • Respond to and resolve emergency calls and attend with appropriate trades as necessary to rectify the issue.

  • Keep detailed electronic records of all communication and interactions with Homeowners and provide updates to the Home Service Team.

  • Meet regularly with the Home Service Team at designated times to review completion of work and assess work orders to be assigned to Trades.

  • Ensure service work is completed efficiently and that job details are clearly communicated to Homeowners, Trades, and Coordinators.

  • Maintain accurate service records and ensure timely and appropriate customer service delivery at a consistently high-level.

  • Develop and maintain a high level of industry knowledge as it relates to TARION guidelines and delivery of service.

  • Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of special projects and initiatives and/or assignments as required.


What You Bring:



  • Minimum of 3-5 years of successful experience as a general handyman or service technician in residential construction or a related field (low-rise construction preferred).

  • Computer proficiency with experience using electronic tablets in the field preferred.

  • Prior experience working with NewStar BuilderGo is an asset.

  • Strong knowledge of construction practices and typical warranty-related topics.

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to recognize and meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Ability to maintain a positive and proactive attitude while handling the stress of multiple demands and working under tight timelines.

  • A high level of accountability and self-direction with attention to detail.

  • Enthusiastic and friendly, with a demonstrated customer-centric orientation and good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to analyze and employ available resources and sound judgement to determine warrantable items and problem solve various issues of a time sensitive nature.

  • Able to safely lift 50Lbs and work inside and outside in varying temperatures.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license, regular access to a vehicle and provide own tools.

  • Flexible, with the willingness and ability to travel daily to assigned sites and work at locations across Cachet’s geographic location.

  • Successful reference and criminal background check upon request.
