A healthcare organization in Central Elgin, Ontario, is seeking a Home Helper to provide homemaking services to individuals and families. Responsibilities include light housekeeping, meal preparation, and providing companionship. Ideal candidates will have 2-3 years of experience working with vulnerable populations, excellent communication skills, and the ability to travel. A high school diploma and CPR certification are preferred.
The Home Helper provides homemaking services to individuals and families in the home or at the time of discharge from the hospital according to the framework of VON policies, procedures, standards, and quality & risk management. The Home Helper collaborates with members of the healthcare team in meeting the needs of individuals to attain an optimal level of independence and well-being.
This role requires a detail-oriented approach in a dynamic environment, with physical activity including lifting, carrying (using proper techniques), bending, reaching, kneeling, and other movements that emphasize good body mechanics. Individuals in the role are required to walk, sit, stand, and climb stairs throughout the day, with some tasks requiring fine hand movements.
