We require a nanny who can help in the care and development to fullest ability for our 4-year-old with speech and cognitive delay and behavioral aggression. The goal is direct supervision, full to partial assist and support so that the child can become increasingly independent.

Duties would include:

1. General supervision and care for the child
2. Assume full responsibility for the household in absence of parents
3. Perform housekeeping and cleaning duties
4. Shop for food and household supplies
5. Supervise according to child’s ability; child self-bathing, self-dressing, and self-feeding, and helping with age-appropriate meal prep and table setting
6. Discipline child according to the methods requested by the parents
7. Instruct child in personal hygiene and social development
8. Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home
9. Organize structured learning activities such as oral direction, reading to the child, functional play, skills acquisition, games, and outings for children
10. Prepare and serve nutritious meals for a child with food aversions (eats only ethnic foods – African, Lebanese, and Caribbean)
11. Gradually encourage and introduce other foods as tolerated
12. Prepare child for rest periods
13. Take child to and from school, health, and therapy appointments
14. Tend to emotional well-being of the child
15. Help child with homework
16. Willing to work nights when the child has bouts of insomnia

About NN Private Household

We are a happy and welcoming household of four seeking a dedicated and compassionate home child care provider to support our 4-year-old son who has special needs. Our son faces challenges with communication, falling asleep, and has specific food aversions. He displays aggressive behavior such as biting, scratching, and kicking if his communication needs are not being listened to or attended to. We are looking for someone with patience, experience, a nurturing approach, and knowledge of how to teach children with additional needs to help create a safe and supportive environment for him. The successful candidate must own a car with a valid driver's license in order to take the child to his scheduled multiple therapy appointments each week. The child also goes to a play center for recreational respite a few days each week.
