Job summary

Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services (CFMWS) is seeking a Home and Electronics Sales Associate to provide retail services to CAF members and their families. You will help set up electronics, computers, appliances and furniture departments and offer technical and product advice.

You will operate POS systems, handle cash, stock shelves, explain extended warranties and accessories, and deliver a high-quality customer experience in a collaborative, on-site environment.

Qualifications

  • An acceptable combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Food Handling Certification, as required.
  • Experience in electronics, computers equipment, furniture and appliances.
  • Experience in selling extended warranty and accessories.
  • Experience in cash handling and merchandising.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in set-up of electronics, computers, appliances and furniture departments.
  • Provide technical and professional advice on sales and products.
  • Explain and sell extended warranty programs and accessories.
  • Operate Point of Sale systems and maintain a cash float.
  • Stock shelves, ensure signing and tidy displays.
  • Provide other retail services as required (dry cleaning, lottery, gas, postal).

THE ROLE

As a Home and Electronics Sales Associate, you provide retail services to a unique client base - members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and in assisting them, you are helping your community. You assist in the set-up of the electronics, computers, appliances, and furniture departments and provide technical and professional advice on sales and products offered. You assist with ordering stock and ensure that shelves are stocked, faced, and properly signed. You explain and sell extended warranty programs and accessories.

The Home and Electronics Sales Associate may also provide a variety of other retail services, including regular retail services, dry cleaning, lottery services, self-serve gas services, and postal services. You will operate Point of Sales systems, the debit/credit machine, and maintain a float. You may take and prepare food and beverage orders and prepare takeout food, while ensuring cleanliness of food service and eating areas.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED
Education, Certifications and Licenses

An acceptable combination of education, training, and experience

Food Handling Certification, as required

Experience

In electronics, computers equipment, furniture and appliances

In selling extended warranty and accessories

In cash handling

In sales and merchandising

Competencies

Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

English Essential / Bilingual (English and French) an asset

Reading: Basic

Writing: Basic

Oral: Functional
