• Handyman and yard maintenance tasks.
• Animal care for a flock of sheep and poultry.
• Assist in construction of high tunnel greenhouse.

Job description

Black River Forest Garden is a small homestead farm nestled in the tranquil community of Black River, PEC. The owners are in the process of restoring an abandoned farmstead into a vibrant, sustainable property and are sharing their progress online as they go.

They are currently looking for a Farm Helper to assist with this restoration process. This is a great opportunity for someone interested in hands-on learning about regenerative agriculture, homesteading, and rural living.

Responsibilities

• Handyman and yard maintenance
• Work with owners on a variety of tasks on a small hobby farms
• Yard maintenance: lawn mowing, zipper snipping
• Property maintenance: window washing, painting, minor repairs
• Animal care: assist with feeding, cleaning pens, etc. for a small flock of 4 sheep and poultry. There are also dogs on the property.
• Special Projects: assist with construction of high tunnel green house

Requirements

• Capable of lifting 50 lbs.
• Knowledge of basic power tools, lawn care equipment.
• Comfortable working on ladders
• Must be able to work with others and independently after training
• Must be comfortable working outdoors and be prepared to get dirty
