Reports To: Food & Beverage Manager & Assistant Manager

Qualifications: 2-3 years relevant experience, Food Safe Certification, Smart Serve, WHMIS.

Term: January 2025 - July 2025 (possibility of extension).

Hours: 20-30 hours per week

The position is a Monday to Friday job, with occasional weekends when events are scheduled.

At Sheridan College - Mississauga Campus. The schedule rotates monthly between morning and evening shifts.

Candidates should have some cooking experience.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Food & Beverage Supervisor (F&B Supervisor) is responsible for supporting the Food & Beverage Manager (F&B manager) and Assistant Food & Beverage Manager in many of the daily duties of our operations and provides professional leadership and direction to all related personnel. F&B Supervisors primarily work in SSU’s food & beverage operations including the coffee house, Booster Juice outlets, kitchen, the bar and catering at their respective campus. They will also lend support to the Director of Hospitality and the rest of the leadership team where necessary.

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

The F&B Supervisor directly reports to the Food & Beverage Manager and Assistant Food & Beverage Manager and works in tandem with another F&B Supervisor. The Supervisor will oversee all part-time staff in their department.

Sheridan’s SSU is a recognized college committee comprised of SSU student Directors, SSU employees and the Dean of Student Services. The Corporation approves funding allocations for the Student Activity Fee and is responsible for developing organizational policies and procedures.

It is the goal of the Sheridan Student Union employees to make the center a pleasant, professional stress-free location for the student to come and get information. The Outlet Supervisor will work with the Food & Beverage Manager, Director of Hospitality, Director of Facilities, the operational leadership team, and all bar and restaurant staff to ensure a high level of satisfaction among all customers, employees, and all other guests.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

The F&B Supervisor covers a wide variety of responsibilities in the daily operations of the SSU facilities and may be modified from time to time by management. It is important to note that not all functions and duties are contained within this definition, and the position itself should be ever changing and adaptive. Nevertheless, specific roles and responsibilities allocated to this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Supervise day-to-day service operations in the food & beverage department including coffee house, Booster Juice outlets, kitchen and when required, the bar and catering
  • Act as a liaison between team members and management
  • Aid in the onboarding, supervision and training of the part-time staff within the kitchen, bar and outlets
  • Ensure that the Hospitality Management Team is aware of the activities occurring within the outlets
  • Advise management with any employee members’ performance and/or disciplinary issues.
  • Coordinate daily ordering, inventory, and par levels with Food & Beverage Manager and Assistant Food & Beverage Manager
  • Aid in ensuring all weekly orders are received and effectively stored and practice proper product rotation (FIFO)
  • Support the service team in executing room bookings and catering events
  • Ensure established standards of cleanliness and sanitation are met, as well as execute daily and weekly cleaning projects
  • Have thorough product knowledge and coordinate point of sale system programming with Food & Beverage Manager
  • Participate in staff and management meetings when required
  • Establish and maintain a healthy working relationship with the Hospitality Team and all part-time staff
  • Assist with daily sales deposits, revenue records, and other financial requirements
  • Supervise sales contests, staff incentives, and collect staff feedback for new initiatives ensuring to follow guidelines where necessary (ie; Booster Juice promotions, multi campus promotions, etc.)
  • Ensure opening and/or closing duties are completed efficiently and thoroughly
  • Aid in daily and weekly equipment cleaning and maintenance and advise management of any issues
