Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and friendly individual to join our team as a Historical Interpreter and Library Assistant for the summer season. This is a fantastic opportunity for a student or someone passionate about history, education, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead engaging, informative tours for visitors of all ages.
  2. Share the history of Morrin and the region through storytelling and artifact explanations.
  3. Greet and assist visitors, answer questions, and provide exceptional customer service.
  4. Handle book borrows & returns.
  5. Assist Library Manager with developing and facilitating the Youth Summer Reading Program.
  6. Assist in creating and delivering educational programs and special events.
  7. Participate in interactive demonstrations or themed activities.
  8. Help with exhibit upkeep, cleaning, and general site maintenance.
  9. Assist with cataloging and care of historical artifacts and books.
Qualifications:
  1. Interest in local history, heritage, or museum studies (preferred but not required).
  2. Strong communication and public speaking skills.
  3. Friendly, outgoing, and comfortable interacting with the public.
  4. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  5. Basic computer skills.
  6. Must be available to work occasional weekends as needed.
Requirements:
  1. Applicants must be between 15 and 30 years of age.
  2. Successful candidates will require a criminal record check.
  3. Must have a social insurance number.
Compensation:
  1. Hourly wage of $16.
  2. Gain valuable experience in heritage interpretation and museum operations.
  3. Gain experience in public library services.
