Job summary

Hargreaves Logistics is seeking a Front End Loading Shovel Operator to join the team at the Port of Tyne. The role involves the safe handling of Biomass materials and requires a recognized FEL license. The ideal candidate will be a good communicator with a strong understanding of health & safety. Training is available for qualified individuals.

Qualifications

  • Experience in materials handling, preferably in Biomass.
  • Desirable: COMPEX training.
  • Training will be provided for IOSHH certification.

Responsibilities

  • Loading Biomass into hoppers for rail loading.
  • Supporting storage movements and stock management.
  • Participating in Safety Procedures and training.

HIS3234 - Front End Loading Shovel Operator (Flexi) - Port of Tyne

A vacancy has arisen for a FEL Operator to join our team within our new Operations and cleaning of a Biomass handling & storage facility contract at the Port of Tyne.

CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent

SALARY: £34,036.33

CLOSING DATE: 2nd July 2025

The FEL Operator role involves moving Biomass material on site, with hours dependent on vessel schedules. Hargreaves Industrial Services provides operations and cleaning services at the Port of Tyne Biomass handling facility, responsible for the safe handling of Biomass following vessel discharge and rail wagon dispatch.

Key duties include:

  • Loading Biomass into hoppers for rail loading
  • Loading Biomass into road lorries
  • Secondary movement of Biomass within the port
  • Supporting storage movements
  • Stock management using push-up blades
  • Material separation and paperwork completion
  • Maintaining plant and equipment safety and cleanliness
  • Understanding Safe Working Procedures
  • Participating in meetings and training

The ideal candidate will be a good communicator with a strong understanding of Health & Safety. Support roles include wagon driving, train loading, and material monitoring, with training provided.

Requirements:

  • Recognised FEL licence (CPCS/NPOR or similar)
  • IOSHH working safely certification (training provided)
  • Experience in materials handling, preferably in Biomass
  • Desirable: COMPEX training
