Position Summary

The Facilities Operations Coordinator manages administrative, maintenance, materials, and housekeeping in multiple housing units. Responsibilities include building maintenance, inventory control, rent collection, and tenant intake/exit. Supervises janitorial staff and liaises with program management. Some evening work may be required. The role supports RainCity Housing’s mission, including Housing First and Harm Reduction models.

Position: Facilities Operations Coordinator, Hightide, Permanent Part-Time, 0.6 FTE

Hours: 45 hours bi-weekly
Hourly Range: $32.49 – $34.18 (BCGEU, Grid 35)
Schedule: Mon-Tues 8:00AM – 4:00PM; Thu 8:00AM – 4:00PM, including a 30-minute unpaid meal break.
Start Date: June 12, 2025 or ASAP.

Program Summary

Opened in April 2019, Sechelt Modular Housing provides 40 units of SRO housing for low-income individuals 19+ with a history of homelessness and needing support. The building operates 24/7 with staff supporting tenants, delivering programs, and maintaining safety. It includes onsite kitchen, support staff, and custodial services.

Qualifications

Our mission is to promote social equity. We value diverse experiences, including volunteering and lived experience with mental health, substance use, or homelessness. Minimum requirements:

  • Grade 12
  • 2 years related experience
  • Knowledge of WHMIS; certification preferred
  • First Aid/CPR
  • Valid BC Driver’s License

Key Skills and Abilities

  • Operate related equipment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience working with diverse tenants, understanding oppression and marginalization
  • Computer literacy: Windows, MS Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Enforce housing and tenancy policies sensitively
  • Physical ability for cleaning and moving heavy items
  • Small repair skills (drywall, plumbing)
  • Basic HVAC, wiring, lock systems knowledge
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Organizational skills to manage work efficiently
  • Emergency response capability
  • Wear safety gear as needed
