Job summary

Phasor Engineering Inc. is seeking an experienced High Voltage Field Commissioning Lead to head the testing and energization of MV/HV systems on projects across Canada.

The role focuses on protection & control schemes, substation work, and field leadership of crews, with an emphasis on safety, quality, and on-site problem solving. The position requires travel on a 14/7 rotation and providing mentorship to junior staff.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of commissioning leadership experience within utility or MV/HV environments.
• Hands-on relay testing and commissioning experience.
• Experience with substations, protection & control systems, and utility infrastructure.
• Willingness to travel 14/7 rotation across Canada.
• Authorized to work in Canada; valid driver’s licence with clean record.

We're looking for an experienced High Voltage Field Commissioning Lead to join our team.

In this role, you will lead the testing and commissioning of MV/HV systems, protection & control schemes, and critical electrical infrastructure from construction through energization.

This is a field-based position with travel to project sites across Canada on a 14/7 rotation.

What You'll Do

• Lead field testing and commissioning activities for MV/HV systems and protection & control schemes
• Support utility, industrial, and energy infrastructure projects across North America
• Read and interpret drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during commissioning and startup
• Support outage, energization, and commissioning activities
• Mentor and support junior team members and field crews
• Assist with commissioning procedures, startup documentation, and reporting
• Coordinate with clients, project teams, and technical stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with corporate, client, and industry safety standards

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma, or Power Systems Electrician Journeyman certification
• 4+ years of commissioning leadership experience within utility or MV/HV environments
• Hands-on relay testing and commissioning experience
• Experience working with substations, protection & control systems, and utility infrastructure
• Experience with Omicron testing equipment is considered a strong asset
• Strong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving abilities
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Ability to work extended rotations and travel to project sites as required

Candidates must be legally authorized to work for any employer in Canada. Background checks and Drug & Alcohol testing will be required as part of employment, and must have a valid driver's licence with a clean abstract.

Expected annual earnings: $175,000-$245,000, inclusive of base salary and overtime (actual earnings may vary based on experience and project requirements.)
