Your Opportunity

Stantec seeks a High Voltage Cable Engineer for our Winnipeg-Potage office. The role can also be based out of any of our Ontario offices or remotely outside these regions.

Your Key Responsibilities

  1. Perform feasibility studies and preliminary cable design calculations.
  2. Prepare preliminary cable installation design drawings.
  3. Develop specifications for high voltage AC and DC underground and submarine cables, including design, manufacturing, testing, and installation.
  4. Review bid documents and cable test plans; witness factory and site testing.
  5. Review cable installation plans and oversee installation activities.
  6. Engage in technical and industry organizations.
  7. Participate in business development to grow Stantec’s cable services.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Experience in high voltage AC/DC submarine and land cable design, manufacturing, testing, and installation.
  • Knowledge of cable jointing, submarine protection techniques, and cable monitoring systems such as DTS, DAS, RTTR.
  • Ability to calculate cable ampacities and thermal effects.
  • Familiarity with cable installation techniques and fault locating operations.
  • Understanding of international cable standards and marine survey requirements.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent; PE license preferred.
  • 3-7 years of experience with high voltage (25 kV to 600 kV) power cables.

Note: The role involves typical office work and potential field exposure to weather conditions. Duties may evolve over time.
