Job summary

Oxford Learning Burlington North is seeking a part-time High School Teacher/Tutor for Grade 11-12 Math & Science. Lessons are pre-planned; training provided.

This in-person role requires commuting to the Burlington center and offers after-school/evening shifts, Mon-Thurs 3:00pm–8:00pm and Saturdays 9:00am–12:00pm. Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s degree or teaching certification, strong English, Math, and science knowledge, and the ability to tutor up to three students simultaneously.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field.
  • Third or Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered.
  • Teaching certification an asset.
  • Good knowledge of the current Grades 11-12 math and science curriculum, including, but not limited to, Advanced Functions, algebra, trig, Calculus, vectors, physics, chemistry and biology.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels.
  • Teaching online and in-person.
  • Following the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
  • Filling in post‑lesson notes.
  • Completing daily student communication updates.
  • Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times.

High School Teacher/Tutor Grade 11-12 Math & Science Wanted

Oxford Learning Burlington North is currently seeking part-time teacher-tutors for a role in our learning centre. This position is perfect for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys numbers and equations, and is passionate about helping others build their skills in these areas.

Teacher-Tutors at Oxford Learning do not have to lesson plan before class, as all lessons are pre‑planned. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.

Position Requirements

All Teacher-Tutors at Oxford Learning work during after‑school and evening hours for a 3 or 4 hour shift Monday‑Thursdays 3:00pm - 8:00pm as well as some Saturdays 9:00am - 12:00pm. Must be avaialble at least 2 evenings per week. A commitment until the end of the school year is preferred. Continuing through the summer is even better. Your students will love working with you, and being reliable is a must.

This role is in‑person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position. Relocation packages are not available.

Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Education

  • Some experience teaching/tutoring math and science at a Grade 9 to 12 (or equivalent) level
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills
  • Strong math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
