Job summary

Oxford Learning Oakville Uptown-Core is seeking a part-time High School Math and Science Teacher-Tutor to work after-school and some Saturdays. You will teach up to three students at once, in-person, following our proven methods and pre-planned lessons.

This role emphasizes supportive instruction and real-world problem solving. Ideal candidates have a Physics degree or higher, tutoring experience with Grades 9-12, and the ability to commute to Oakville.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Physics and tutoring experience relevant to Grades 9-12.
  • Teaching certification is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of current Grades 9-12 math and science curriculum.

Responsibilities

  • Teach up to 3 students at a time at different levels.
  • Teach online and in-person sessions.
  • Follow Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
  • Fill in post-lesson notes and daily student updates.
  • Maintain a friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Comply with vulnerable sector screening requirements.

High School Math and Science Teacher Wanted

**Mustreside in Oakville orwithin a commute from one of the following locations: Mississauga, Burlington, Etobicoke, or Milton

Oxford Learning Oakville Uptown-Coreis currently seeking part-time teacher-tutors for a role in our learning centre. This position is perfect for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys numbers and equations, and is passionate about helping others build their skills in these areas.

Teacher-Tutors at Oxford Learning do not have to lesson plan before class, as all lessons are pre-planned. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.

Position Requirements

All Teacher-Tutors at Oxford Learning work during after-school and evening hours (4:00pm - 8:00pm) as well as some Saturdays (10:00am - 2:00pm). A commitment throughout the year is preferred.

This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position. Relocation packages are not available.

Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

We encourage you to apply if you have the majority of the following requirements:

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Physics
  • Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience
  • Teaching certification an asset
  • Good knowledge of the current Grades 9-12 math and science curriculum, particularly senior math and including, but not limited to, Advanced Functions, algebra, trigonometry and Calculus, as well as vectors, physics, chemistry, and biology.
Experience
  • Experience teaching/tutoring math and science at a Grade 9 to 12 level
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills
  • Strong math skills and ability to guide students' understanding
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
Responsibilities (Position Details)

You will work directly with students as an Interactive Coach with the following responsibilities:

  • Teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels
  • Teaching online and in-person
  • Following the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
  • Filling in post-lesson notes
  • Completing daily student communication updates
  • Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times
