Job summary

Oxford Learning Erin Mills in Mississauga is seeking a high school math teacher/tutor to help students in Grades 9–12 with advanced functions, algebra, trig, calculus and vectors, following Oxford Learning methodologies. This part-time role runs after school and evenings (Mon–Thu 3:45–8:00 pm) and Saturdays (Sep–Jun 10:00 am–2:00 pm).

In-person only; must commute to Mississauga. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory, and you will prepare post‑lesson notes and daily updates.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field.
  • Fourth‑year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered.
  • Teaching certification an asset.
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels.
  • Teaching online and in‑person.
  • Following the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
  • Filling in post‑lesson notes.
  • Completing daily student communication updates.
  • Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 to $21.00 per hour

Job Description:

Position Requirements

All teacher‑tutors work during after‑school and evening hours: Monday‑Thursday year‑round (3:45 pm – 8:00 pm) and Saturdays from September to June (10:00 am – 2:00 pm).
Minimum availability: 2 days per week (e.g., Mondays & Wednesdays or Tuesdays & Thursdays).
Commitment until the end of the term in June is preferred; continuing through the summer is even better.
In‑person location; must be able to commute to Mississauga. No online or relocation packages.

Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Education & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • Fourth‑year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
  • Teaching certification an asset
  • Good knowledge of the current Grades 9‑12 math curriculum, particularly senior math including advanced functions, algebra, trigonometry, calculus, and vectors
Experience
  • Some experience teaching/tutoring math at Grades 9‑12 (or equivalent) level
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills
  • Strong math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
