Overview

High School Math/Science Teacher/Tutor Wanted. Oxford Learning St. Albert is seeking part-time teacher-tutors for our learning centre. This position is ideal for individuals who love working with students, enjoy numbers and equations, and are passionate about helping others build their skills in math and science.

Position Details

This role is in-person at Oxford Learning St. Albert. You must be able to commute to the location. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory. Not an online position. The hours are after-school and evenings (4:00pm - 8:00pm) with some Saturdays (10:00am - 3:00pm). A commitment until the end of the term in June is preferred; continuing through the summer is encouraged.

Responsibilities
  • Work directly with students as an Interactive Coach, teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels
  • Teach online and in-person
  • Follow Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
  • Fill in post-lesson notes
  • Complete daily student communication updates
  • Maintain a friendly and professional demeanor at all times
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or a similar certification in a relevant field
  • University students with extensive tutoring experience may be considered
  • Good knowledge of current Grades 9-12 math and science curriculum, including senior topics such as Advanced Functions, Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, and Vectors, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology
  • Some experience teaching/tutoring math and science at Grade 9-12 (or equivalent) level
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills
  • Strong math skills and the ability to guide students’ understanding
  • Ability to multitask and work with up to three students at a time

Job Details

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $17 / hour to start

Schedule: Evenings (Monday to Thursday) and Saturday availability
