Job summary

Oxford Learning Edmonton South is seeking a part-time teacher-tutor to help students in math, chemistry, physics, and biology. Lessons are pre-planned and teachers receive full training in our proprietary methods.

Hours are after-school and evenings (4:00pm–8:00pm) with some Saturdays (10:00am–3:00pm); commute to the Edmonton South location is required. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory, and relocation is not offered.

Qualifications

  • Experience tutoring math, chemistry, physics, and biology at Grades 9–12 level.
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to guide students' understanding and balance tutoring for up to three students at a time.

Responsibilities

  • Teach up to 3 students at a time in-person.
  • Follow Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
  • Fill in post-lesson notes and daily student updates.
  • Maintain a friendly, professional manner during all shifts.

Our hours count! Gain valuable teaching experience! Oxford Learning Edmonton South is currently seeking part-time teacher-tutors for a role in our learning centre. This position is perfect for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys numbers and equations, and is passionate about helping others build their skills in math, chemistry, physics, and biology.

Teacher-tutors at Oxford Learning do not have to lesson plan before class, as all lessons are pre-planned. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.

Position Requirements
  • All Teacher-tutors at Oxford Learning work during after-school and evening hours (4:00pm - 8:00pm) as well as some Saturdays (10:00am - 3:00pm). A commitment until the end of the school year is preferred. Continuing through the summer is even better. Your students will love working with you, and being reliable is a must.
  • This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position. Relocation packages are not available.
  • Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.
  • Applicants must reside in or within a short commute of the Edmonton South area.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • First year university students with tutoring experience will be considered
  • Teaching certification an asset
  • Good knowledge of the current Grades 9-12 math and science curriculum, particularly senior math and science, including, but not limited to, Advanced Functions, algebra, trigonometry and Calculus, as well as vectors, physics, chemistry, and biology.
Experience
  • Some experience teaching/tutoring math, chemistry, physics, and biology at a Grade 9 to 12 (or equivalent) level
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills
  • Strong math and science skills and ability to guide students' understanding
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
