The Opportunity

The co-op student assigned to Community Facilities will be participating in a co-op program formalized between the Town of Caledon and area school board(s) or other educational institutions with a focus on Business Administration, Recreation, and Leisure.

This program has been designed to assist students to satisfy graduation requirements by attaining hands-on work experience through a co-op placement. To be eligible, candidates must be enrolled in a co-op program through an accredited educational institution.

Responsibilities:

  • Support Community & Culture Development Staff (data entry, filing, answering phones, monitor general in-box, scanning training records, cataloging general supplies and vendor lists)
  • Assist with Records Management
  • Assist in organizing and scheduling training sessions
  • Inventory of supplies and equipment
  • Assist with Special Events (logistical arrangements, promotion, on-site support)
  • Attend meetings, take, and distribute minutes
The Ideal Candidate
  • Enrolled full time in an accredited secondary institution
  • Currently enrolled in a co-op credit course
  • Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suites and Teams at a minimum
  • Demonstrated organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a sensitive environment
  • Student must be able to provide their own form of transportation
Workplace Setting
  • Primary work location would be Caledon East Community Complex, 6215 Old Church Road. From time to time the student may be required to provide administrative support or attend as an observer within neighboring facilities
  • General environment consists of standard on-site office environment
  • Physical activity involves active movement (e.g., lifting, pulling, pushing), lifting up to 15lbs
  • Occasional travel to various town sites and external meetings
  • PPE worn on a regular basis (e.g., Green patch footwear)
  • Regular exposure to stressful situations. May be exposed to some conflict and emotionally charged situations

Satisfactory passing of a criminal record check, and proof of qualifications may be required of any successful candidate(s) for this position.
