Position Details

Full-Time Hospital Security Guard / Patrol Officer

Sites: Richmond Hill Medical Hospital

Hours: 40 hrs

Pay Rate: $22.00–$24.00/hr

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular patrols of hospital grounds including entrances, exits, hallways, patient-care units, and parking areas.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service/concierge service by greeting and assisting patients, visitors, and staff with professionalism, empathy, and respect.
  • Monitor and control access to restricted areas, ensuring only authorized personnel are permitted.
  • Operate security cameras, surveillance, and alarm systems; escalate suspicious activity immediately.
  • Respond to emergencies including medical codes, fire alarms, Code Whites, and security threats.
  • Support healthcare staff during crisis interventions, patient-care situations, and evacuations.
  • De-escalate tense situations with tact, diplomacy, and professionalism.
  • Document incidents, daily activities, and investigations in accurate and detailed reports.
  • Collaborate with hospital staff, volunteers, and law enforcement when required.
  • Enforce hospital safety policies, emergency codes, and departmental procedures.
  • Demonstrate strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills in stressful situations.
  • Participate in hospital and Executek safety programs, training, and debriefings.
Prerequisites
  • Valid Ontario Security Guard License
  • Valid First Aid & CPR – Level C (WSIB approved)
  • Minimum 2–3 years of professional security experience (hospital/healthcare strongly preferred)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; fluent in English
  • Physically fit and able to patrol/stand for extended periods
  • Previous experience in concierge service, customer service, or public-facing roles an asset
  • Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination (2 doses)
  • Immunization records: MMR, Varicella, and 2-step TB skin test
  • Clear Police & Criminal Background Check
  • Certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB)
  • Applicants without these certifications may complete Executek-partnered training prior to onboarding. Training costs are covered with a 6-month commitment; however, the training itself is unpaid as it is a prerequisite.
