Opportunity: Transport Trailer Mechanic

Join our team at our Red Deer location. Please apply via this ad or drop off your resume in person at 170 Queens Dr to the Service Manager, Murray Marshall.

Responsibilities:
  • Uphold and embody FGI Customer Service Standards and Core Values with customers, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Champion FGI's safety culture by performing all duties within established procedures and practices.
Time Allocation:

20% of your time:

  • Diagnose defects in heavy-duty equipment and perform required mechanical repairs.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical failures.

70% of your time:

  • Repair and replace hydraulic pumps, safety valves, and other mechanical components.
  • Perform incidental welding operations on steel and/or aluminum equipment.
  • Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on heavy/medium trucks and trailers.

10% of your time:

  • Ensure documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Perform shop cleaning and other required tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Certification as a Transport Trailer Mechanic.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements: lift up to 75 lbs, work while kneeling/squatting and crouching, work at varying heights, and in enclosed areas.
  • Understanding of highway truck and automotive wiring.
  • Experience with installing plows, sanders, dump boxes, etc. is an asset.
  • Excellent customer service skills, dedicated to exceeding expectations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn in-house systems.
