Job summary

LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services in Burnaby, BC, seeks a detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technologist to perform clinical testing, quality control, and analyzer maintenance to ensure accurate patient results across laboratory disciplines.

The successful candidate will uphold laboratory quality, safety, and regulatory standards while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. The position is permanent, full-time with variable shifts including mornings, evenings, and graveyard.

Qualifications

• CAMLPR pathways registration or CSMLS certification.
• Experience in the relevant laboratory discipline preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with MS Windows-based systems and laboratory software.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical testing and release accurate patient results per protocols.
• Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot analyzers and equipment.
• Conduct and monitor quality control; investigate discrepancies.
• Validate new reagent lots and support new methods/instrumentation.
• Use laboratory information systems for processing, testing, and reporting results.
• Participate in external proficiency testing and post‑software upgrade validations.
• Maintain knowledge of specimen handling, critical values, storage, and test protocols.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards, safety policies, WHMIS, and chemical hygiene.
• Support training, documentation updates, and process improvements.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient and organizational information.
