A leading heavy equipment repair company is seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician with expertise in LeTourneau equipment to join their dynamic team in Ontario. The successful candidate will perform crucial repairs on mining equipment and must possess a Red Seal certification along with strong troubleshooting skills. Qualifications

  • Extensive experience fixing LeTourneau wheel loaders, preferably the L-1850.
  • Minimum 3 years recent field experience out of a service truck.
  • Experience working on mining equipment essential.

Job description

Job Title: Heavy Equipment Technician with LeTourneau Experience
Location: Ontario
Base Rate:$ 62.50/hr.
OT: 4 hours daily paid out at $93.75/hr.
Schedule: 14X14 - 12-hour days
Night Shift Premium: $1.25/hr.
Accommodations: Camp Accommodations are provided at no additional cost
Flights Paid: Fly into the location from any major airport in Canada
Tools Provided: Tools will be provided
Travel Time: Paid up to 8 hours at each end of your set

About Us:

Big Country Equipment is a BC-based heavy equipment service and repair company that works with resource-based customers in the construction, forestry, mining, and oil and gas sectors in Western Canada. Big Country Equipment was formed in 2017. We have grown rapidly from a one-truck operation to over 100 employees and a fleet of over 30 fully tooled service trucks, taking care of customers throughout Western Canada 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

We are looking for self-starters who are career-minded, ready, and willing to get the job done in a safe, positive manner, and must be able to work professionally with co-workers and customers. This job is in many locations across BC, and we are mainly servicing open pit mining operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair various types and brands of heavy mining equipment.
  • Utilize computerized and other testing equipment to determine repairs and create detailed service reports.
  • Transmission and drive-train repairs: repairing or replacing transmission components, differential gears, and drive shafts.
  • Interpret and complete both scheduled and unscheduled work orders.
  • Contribute to the ongoing reliability of all heavy equipment and complete preventative maintenance requirements.
  • Test repaired equipment to verify proper maintenance.
  • Make recommendations regarding repairs and methods for improvement.

Requirements:

  • Must not want to work as a subcontractor; we are not offering this at this time.
  • Must have extensive experience fixing LeTourneau wheel loaders, with a preference for the L-1850.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of recent experience working in the field out of a service truck.
  • Must have experience working on mining equipment.
  • Will consider experience with Komatsu WA 1200 and above.
  • Must be a Journeyman Heavy Duty Off-Road Technician.
  • Red Seal needed.
  • Solid experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting.

All Successful Candidates Must:

  • Be proficient in English, both verbal and written.
  • Have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
  • Pass a Criminal Record check.
  • Provide a clean 5-year driver’s abstract.
  • Pass an 8-panel drug test (including marijuana) and an alcohol breath test.
  • Be able to lift 50 lbs.. comfortably.
  • Not seeking sub-contractor roles (we are not offering sub-contractor opportunities at this time).
