Job description

Birch Mountain Enterprises (BME) is hiring Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technicians immediately for our client site location at Kearl Lake to work on on-road equipment.

Job Summary

Based at our Kearl Lake client shop, this role involves shop and field repairs on our fleet of heavy-duty highway trucks. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in water, vac, high-pressure, and flusher units, along with comprehensive knowledge of heavy-spec trucks.

Responsibilities
  1. Repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems.
  2. Install new or replacement parts according to manufacturer specifications.
  3. Test repaired equipment for proper performance, ensuring compliance with manufacturer standards and AB Transportation regulations.
  4. Complete repair documentation, including work orders, risk assessments, and hazard identifications.
  5. Follow instructions from the shop supervisor.
  6. Maintain daily housekeeping of assigned areas and service vehicles.
  7. Attend daily toolbox and safety meetings and adhere to safety regulations.
Qualifications
  1. Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician certification with a minimum of 3 years of heavy truck experience.
  2. CVIP certification is an asset.
  3. Valid driver’s license (minimum Class 5) with a clean abstract.
  4. Knowledge of hydraulic, electronic, suspension, and computer diagnosis in heavy trucks.
  5. Experience with water, vac, and steam trucks preferred.
  6. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  7. OSSA (or OSSA BSO) and CSTS certifications.
  8. Ability to pass BME pre-employment evaluation, D&A, and fit-for-duty screening.
