Job summary

SMS Equipment is seeking Heavy Equipment Technicians for our Timmins branch, with a resident posting in the Liskeard area, Ontario. You will inspect, troubleshoot, repair, service, and maintain excavators, loaders, dozers, and related machinery to ensure safe, reliable operation for customers.

Candidates should have Journeyperson status or 7,000+ hours experience and be willing to travel; duties include on-site repairs at customer sites or in our Timmins shop, with safety as a core value and

Qualifications

• Certified Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician or minimum 7,000 hours of heavy equipment experience and willing to challenge the certification exam within 6 months
• Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing construction equipment such as excavators, loaders, dozers, and mini excavators
• Valid Class G driver’s license and willingness to travel as required
• Ability to use a variety of diagnostic tools and approaches to troubleshoot issues

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, service, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems on excavators, loaders, dozers, and other equipment
• Perform preventative maintenance, component overhauls, and new equipment builds
• Use digital diagnostic tools and hands-on troubleshooting techniques
• Work independently or with others at customer locations, contractor and mine sites, roadside, construction sites, or in the Timmins shop
