Job summary

GFL is seeking an Equipment Operator to safely operate heavy equipment, perform daily maintenance, and help keep the community clean and running smoothly.

Requirements include a Class 3 license with a clean record, at least 1 year of commercial driving or completion of a truck driving program, and the ability to work early mornings and overtime when needed. You will be part of a safety‑driven team at GFL.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 3 driver’s license with a clean abstract.
• Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience or completion of a truck driving program.
• Ability to safely operate Landfill Compactor, Dozer, Excavator and Rock Truck.
• Completion of a recognized heavy equipment course.
• Willingness to work early mornings and overtime when required.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment safely and assess incoming material for disposal.
• Perform daily safety inspections and lubrication checks.
• Operate equipment systems and maintain tracks and gears.
• Communicate work requirements via two-way radio to team and supervisors.
• Maintain productivity, safety compliance and cleanliness.
• Adhere to all laws, bylaws, PPE standards and company policies.
• Collaborate with Helpers and Supervisors to support daily operations.
• Assist with site maintenance and other duties as needed.
