Job summary

Government of Yukon is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator 1 to join the Transportation team. The role ensures operation of light and heavy equipment to support highways, airstrips, and other facilities across Yukon.

The successful candidate will travel across the territory, operate in adverse weather, and adhere to safety protocols while maintaining equipment. The position requires a Yukon Class 3 licence with air endorsement and TDG certification within six months of hire.

Qualifications

  • Experience operating heavy equipment such as dump trucks or loaders.
  • Experience performing routine maintenance including greasing, oil changes, filters and air filters.
  • Experience completing pre-trip and post-trip inspections or other safety procedures.

Job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator 1 (HEOI) to join our Transportation team. The role ensures operation of light and heavy equipment to support the construction and maintenance of highways, recreational roads, airstrips, and other facilities across Yukon.

Essential Qualifications
  • Experience operating various heavy equipment such as dump trucks, loaders, or other equipment.
  • Experience performing minor maintenance or servicing of equipment, including greasing, adjusting brakes, changing oil, filters, or air filters.
  • Experience completing pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections or other safety procedures.
