We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Equipment Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience operating various types of heavy machinery and will be responsible for ensuring that all equipment is operated safely and efficiently. This role is crucial in supporting our operations, contributing to the successful completion of projects while adhering to safety regulations and company standards.
Duties
1. Operates all heavy equipment owned and operated by the Public Works Department including, but not limited to wheeled excavator, motor grader, backhoe, loader mount snow blower, and front end loader as assigned in a safe, economical, productive manner.
2. Effectively carries out assigned functions in ditching, excavating, snow removal and other municipal maintenance and construction activities.
3. Performs all excavation work in accordance with the OHSA, Ontario Underground Infrastructure Notification Act, and any/all other relevant Acts and Regulations.
4. Reports problems encountered on assigned jobs.
5. Checks, maintains and is responsible for equipment assigned.
6. Submits crew cards and vehicle inspection reports daily or when required.
7. Ensures that the vehicle reports are properly completed and submitted to Mechanical Foreman.
8. Other related duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
· Minimum completion of High School Diploma
· Minimum six (6) months experience in heavy equipment operation. Experience excavating around underground infrastructure such as water, gas and telephone lines is an asset
· Must have a valid class “DZ” Ontario Driver’s Licence
· Ability to understand and follow instructions
· The ability to work shift work and after hours work as assigned
· Ability to climb, as well as to lift/push/pull equipment and tools of weights up to 50lbs
NOTE:– Candidates who do not currently possess all required qualifications may still be considered; however, they must obtain the required certification(s) within the probationary period. Failure to do so may result in release from the position.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $30.28 per hour
