Job description

Position Scope

NACG is seeking Haul Truck Operators to join our remote mining site team in the Fort McMurray area.

This is your opportunity to join one of the safest and largest contracts in the region.

For this role, NACG offers a combined rate of up to $48.73/hour as well as room for growth!

Where You’ll Be Working

  • Site: Suncor Base Mine
  • Schedule: 14 x 14, 12-hour days (paid for 11.5 hours)
  • Accommodations: Camp is not provided
  • Transportation: Busing provided from Fort McMurray to site (before and after shifts)
  • Overtime: Provided after 8 hours in a day or 44 hours in a week

Responsibilities

What You'll Be Doing

  • Operate various makes and models of haul trucks (CAT/Komatsu), transporting raw material from the mine for processing
  • Ensure compliance with all company, client, and legislated safety policies, operating standards, and procedures
  • Use adequate and suitable safety equipment, including PPE
  • Review safe work plans/hazard assessments prior to job commencement
  • Complete walk-arounds, safety checks, and field-level risk assessments; ensure heavy equipment is functioning properly
  • Report any necessary repairs to maintenance or supervisors
  • Report all incidents, damages, and near misses immediately
Qualifications

What Makes You the ONE

  • Minimum one year experience in a mining environment operating rigid frame trucks (777 up to 797 and 830/930)
  • High School Diploma or GED considered an asset
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal

  • Silica Awareness (Energy Safety Canada)
  • Wood Buffalo Wildlife Awareness (Energy Safety Canada)
  • OHS Alberta Legislation Awareness (Energy Safety Canada)
  • H2S Awareness (Energy Safety Canada)
  • Subject to random testing at Suncor, Suncor Fort Hills, and Kearl sites
  • Pass pre-employment testing: Breath Alcohol, Urine Drug, Fitness-to-Work, Audiometric, Vision, Criminal Record Check

Once dispatched, the process includes:

  • Receiving a call from NACG to set up testing
  • Receiving and completing new hire paperwork via email
  • Scheduling orientation and confirming start date after results and paperwork are received
