Job description

Position Scope

NACG is seeking Haul Truck Operators to join our remote mining site team in the Fort McMurray area.

This is your opportunity to join one of the safest and largest contracts in the region.

For this role, NACG offers a combined rate of up to $48.73/hour as well as room for growth!

Where You’ll Be Working

  • Site: Fort Hills
  • Schedule: 14 x 7, 12-hour days (paid for 11.5 hours)
  • Accommodations: Camp provided
  • Transportation: Busing from Fort McMurray to site (before and after shifts)
  • Overtime: Paid after 8 hours in a day or 44 hours in a week

We are proud to work with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 955. Successful candidates will become part of that union.

Responsibilities

What You'll Be Doing

  • Operate various makes and models of haul trucks (CAT/Komatsu), transporting raw material from the mine for processing
  • Ensure compliance with all safety policies, operating standards, and procedures
  • Use appropriate safety equipment, including PPE
  • Review safe work plans and hazard assessments before starting work
  • Perform walk-arounds, safety checks, and risk assessments; ensure equipment is functioning properly
  • Report repairs needed to maintenance or supervisors
  • Report incidents, damages, and near misses immediately
Qualifications

What Makes You the ONE

  • At least one year of experience operating rigid frame trucks (777 up to 797 and 830/930) in a mining environment
  • High School Diploma or GED considered an asset
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal

  • Silica Awareness (Energy Safety Canada)
  • Wood Buffalo Wildlife Awareness (Energy Safety Canada)
  • OHS Alberta Legislation Awareness (Energy Safety Canada)
  • H2S Awareness (Energy Safety Canada)
  • Subject to random testing at Suncor, Suncor Fort Hills, and Kearl sites
  • Successful completion of pre-employment tests: breath alcohol, urine drug, health assessment, audiometric, vision screening, criminal record check

After dispatch, the process includes:

  • Scheduling pre-employment testing with NACG
  • Receiving and completing new hire paperwork
  • Scheduling orientation and confirming start date
