Construction Heavy Equipment Operator

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Construction Heavy Equipment Operator operates various types of heavy machinery and equipment used in construction projects related to civil engineering. These operators are skilled professionals who ensure the safe and efficient operation of machinery such as bulldozers, excavators, loaders, graders, and compactors.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate heavy machinery and equipment according to project requirements and safety guidelines.
- Conduct pre-operation inspections to ensure machinery is in proper working condition.
- Maneuver equipment to perform tasks such as digging, grading, leveling, and compacting surfaces.
- Interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications to determine project requirements.
- Collaborate with construction crew members and supervisors to coordinate work activities.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries on the job site.
- Monitor equipment operation to identify and address any performance issues or malfunctions.
- Adhere to project schedules and deadlines, completing tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to report progress, issues, and concerns.
SKILLS REQUIRED
- 10 years of field construction experience.
- 5 years as a heavy equipment operator.
- GPS experience. Trimble preferred.
- Dozer | Excavator fine grading experience.
- Pipe experience.
- Site work experience.
- Certification or training in heavy equipment operation preferred.
- Proven experience operating heavy machinery in construction.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures related to heavy equipment operation.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Physical stamina and endurance to withstand long hours and perform demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record. Class 1 preferred.
