Heavy Equipment Operator – Powering Precision in Food Production

Are you ready to take the wheel in a role that keeps our operations moving? At Didion, we’re looking for a Heavy Equipment Operator who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and is passionate about safety, precision, and teamwork.

What You’ll Do:

As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you’ll be at the core of our logistics and production process—operating locomotives, yard trucks, and other key machinery to ensure our grain-based food products are loaded, transported, and shipped with care and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate locomotives and yard trucks to move railcars and trailers efficiently and safely.
  • Support truck and rail loadout operations to ensure timely, high-quality product delivery.
  • Perform conductor/grounds person duties in the rail yard.
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections on all assigned equipment.
  • Maintain and clean heavy equipment and perform basic track maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and workplace safety standards.
  • Use computer systems for scheduling, maintenance requests, and equipment tracking.
  • Continuously grow your skills through training and hands-on experience.
What You Bring:
  • High school diploma or GED (technical training a plus).
  • Basic driving skills; experience with locomotives or yard trucks is a bonus.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or food-safe environment is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • A team-oriented mindset with a proactive, can-do attitude.
  • Reliable attendance and a commitment to excellence.
Physical & Environmental Requirements:
  • Comfortable working in environments with noise, dust, heat, and cold.
  • Able to lift up to 55 pounds regularly and 75 pounds occasionally.
  • Frequent stair and ladder climbing; must be able to work at heights over 20 feet.
  • Ability to enter confined spaces and maneuver equipment in tight areas.
  • Must be able to communicate via 2-way radio and follow all safety protocols.
