Job summary

Nasittuq Corporation seeks a licensed heavy equipment operator for remote radar sites in Nunavut. Qualifications

Job description

LOCATION : Remote Long Range Radar Sites in Shepard Bay, NU (CAM-3) & Remote Long Range Radar Sites Cape Dyer, NU (DYE-MAIN)

SECURITY CLEARANCE : Reliability

REPORTS TO : Zone Manager

ABOUT US :

Nasittuq Corporation (from the Inuktitut word meaning “looking out from the highest point”) operates and maintains the North Warning System (NWS), a critical joint Canada-US radar network with 47 sites across Northern Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining roads, grounds, and gravel surfaces to ensure safe route passage
  • Safe operation of standard construction and heavy equipment (front end loaders, dozers, graders, trucks, dump truck, forklift) tomaintain roads, run-ways, and grounds
  • Experience with snow clearing processes and equipment
  • Performing daily checks prior to vehicle use
  • Assisting with Mobile Support Equipment (MSE) maintenance / repairs and documents maintenance routines
  • Cleaning vehicles, performing fuel dips and fuel transfers, and assisting with sealift material delivery

QUALIFICATIONS :

CERTIFICATE(S) / LICENSE(S) :

  • Licensed heavy equipment operator with Air Brake certification (DZ License)
  • Valid Class G driver’s license
  • Operators of GFE MSE must complete a Safe Backing course
  • Operators of GFE MSE being operated on airport ramps or runways must be authorized to do so by the appropriate Airport Authority

EXPERIENCE :

  • Demonstrated experience operating equipment (loaders, graders, dozers, dump trucks etc.) in a safe manner
  • Must be experienced or trained on driving vehicles with attached trailers

ROTATION & OVERTIME : 6 weeks in / 6 weeks out rotation (48-hour workweeks) with overtime at 1.5x your base rate. Paid travel days (up to 2 days) with all travel costs covered.

NORTHERN LIVING ALLOWANCE : Additional biweekly allowance for employees residing in designated northern communities : Inuvik, Cambridge Bay, Sanirajak, and Iqaluit.
