Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner according to project specifications and safety regulations.
  • Excavate, move, grade, and compact earth, gravel, and other materials for road foundations and surfaces.
  • Read and interpret site plans, blueprints, and grade stakes.
  • Perform daily inspections and routine maintenance on equipment, including checking fluid levels, lubricating, and reporting mechanical issues.
  • Collaborate with other crew members to ensure proper sequencing of operations and completion of tasks.
  • Follow instructions from supervisors and communicate effectively with crew members.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to heavy equipment operation and road construction.
  • Maintain worksite cleanliness and assist in general labor duties as required.
  • Operate equipment in all weather conditions and over rough terrain.
Qualifications
  • Previous construction and operating experience will be considered an asset
  • Comfortable with working outdoors, in extreme weather conditions, and in a noisy and dusty environment
  • Experience operating paving equipment
  • Ability to perform manual labour and lift up to 50 lbs./22.7 kg
  • Effective communication (Written & Verbal)
  • OSSD or equivalent diploma
  • Have a valid G driver’s license
  • Punctual, reliable, and an excellent team player
  • Knowledge of geographical territory
