A leading metal recycling company in Ontario is looking for a Heavy Equipment Operator to safely operate cranes and other equipment. Responsibilities include lifting metal materials, loading/unloading trucks, and general yard maintenance. Job Description

As a Heavy Equipment Operator, this position requires strong operation skills, adherence to safety regulations, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Your primary responsibility will be to operate a crane while supporting the overall operations.

This position is Monday-Friday from 8:00am-5:00pm and alternating Saturdays with one day off during the week.

What you’re responsible for:

  • Safely operating various equipment to lift, move, and position metal materials within the facility and yard
  • You may be asked to operator the following heavy equipment: Crane, Shear, Loader, Forklift
  • Lifting and transporting metal materials using attachments such as magnets or grapples, and safely place them in designated areas or processing equipment
  • Loading and unloading trucks and containers, ensuring proper weight distribution and load security
  • Collaborating and communicating effectively with team members, supervisors, and other personnel
  • During any down time, you may be required to perform general yard maintenance and perform cleaning around the yard

Qualifications

To join our team:

  • You have an operator certification and/or experience operating heavy equipment
  • You have a minimum of 1 years experience operating in a heavy industrial setting
  • You have attention to detail and the ability to accurately position and handle different types of metal materials
  • You are comfortable using various crane attachments, such as magnets or grapples
  • You have familiarity with metal recycling processes, materials, and specifications
  • You are comfortable working outdoors and in a heavy industrial environment
